Rebecca King Crews Shared Her Story
It would have been impossible not to notice Terry Crews‘ bright, charming smile and chiseled physique during a Sunday afternoon football game, an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, America’s Got Talent, or even an Old Spice commercial.
“Behind every great man, there is a wonderful lady,” as the saying goes. And nothing could be more true when it comes to Terry’s wife of more than 30 years, Rebecca King-Crews.
While audiences are more likely to recognize Terry, Rebecca is also a gifted performer. She is mostly a singer-songwriter, although she also works as an actress, producer, and novelist.
Rebecca admired Carole King and Stevie Wonder when she was younger. Rebecca assumed a stage name – Regina Madre – when she relaunched her music career in her late 40s so that her work might be judged on its own merits, rather by her husband’s luminous celebrity. Regina Madre is a Spanish name that means “Queen Mother.”
In a recent interview, Rebecca explained, “We are all queens because we govern over our many queendoms, and we are all moms in a way because we are always nurturing others in our life.”

Rebecca Crews was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2020, which was a big setback for the Crews family.
Rebecca insisted on a mammogram and an ultrasound as part of her normal checkup because she had a benign lump removed 10 years prior.
“They didn’t detect anything when we did the mammography,” Rebecca says. “I instantly told them that, due to my history, I required an ultrasound as well, and they said they didn’t have an order for one.” I begged them to take another look or call my doctor since I wasn’t going anywhere without one. It was still in the fax machine, to my surprise.
Up And Down in Her Surgery
Rebecca chose a double mastectomy over a single mastectomy or lumpectomy despite the fact that cancer was diagnosed in only one of her breasts. “I selected the double mastectomy because it seemed foolish to me to worry about the other one for the next ten years,” Rebecca explains. I’m glad I went through with it.
Rebecca was ready to get started, confident in her decision. She was scheduled for surgery on March 3, 2020, unaware that the country will be shut down in only two weeks due to COVID-19.
Everyone was sent home just two weeks later, as stay-at-home orders began to take effect across the country. Terry was relieved since it meant Rebecca could relax and concentrate on her health rather than worrying about her son’s acting career.
Rebecca’s cancer had not progressed to her lymph nodes, and she was granted a clean bill of health. This was great news because it meant no chemo or radiation was required. “I had a stage I tumour that was slow-growing,” she explains. “It was a stroke of luck that I caught it early.”
Sometimes Better Sometimes Worse Condition
For Better or for Worse, in Sickness or in Health Rebecca and Terry both feel that this trip has improved their relationship and given them a deeper sense of purpose as a pair.
“Being a public figure has an impact on how you spend your life. “It’s not just about you,” Rebecca continues, “but about how everything you do affects everyone who watches you.” “You are not permitted to be self-centered.” Whether you accept it or not, your platform has a responsibility. We made the decision to accept it. It has brought us closer together, as though we share a common goal. The goal has changed and will continue to change.”
