Lapira was born in Queens, New York, and moved to New York when she was young. There are parts of her heritage that come from Filipino, Spanish and Chinese people, too. Forest Hills High School is in Forest Hills, NY.

In New York, she starred on stage and in small movies. For TV, she moved to LA in 2004.Lapira is a big fan of LA’s Best, which helps 28,000 kids in 189 schools in the poorest parts of Los Angeles get after-school help.

Her other favorite thing to do is to run in the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Charity Triathlon in Malibu each fall. With The Impact Theatre in Harlem now, she is living on the east coast.

Director Tony Scott’s Domino and The Big Bad Swim, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2006, were two of his first movies. Lapira played Heather in J. J. Abrams’ Cloverfield movie in 2008. She also starred in Table for Three and 21.

As a TV actress, she has appeared in shows like Dexter and ER, as well as Grey’s Anatomy and Law and Order: SVU. She also appeared in The Parkers, Sex and the City, and The Sopranos.

Detective Jacocks in Battle Creek, and NCIS Agent Michelle Lee were two of Lapira’s most common roles. She also had recurring roles in Traffic Light.

There is a book called Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life, and there is a TV show called 9JKL on CBS.  In August 2018, Lapira joined the cast of the Netflix series Unbelievable.

When CBS remade The Equalizer, Lapira was going to be the lead. She was going to play Queen Latifah and Chris Noth in the new show.
