Redding Police Department announced Joe Simmon’s death on their official FaceBook page. The statement said, “We are sorry to announce that retired Redding Police Officer Joe Simmons died yesterday.” He was only 68 years of age. From 1987 to 2010, Officer Simmons was with the Redding Police Department. He was a Field Training Officer and Investigator during his career. The job that he loved most was Motor Officer.

Chief Bill Schueller: Joe was my first field training officer in 1994 when I was hired. He was also my motor instructor many years later. Joe was a great police officer. He trained many officers and motor officials throughout his career. Joe was an excellent police officer and a great friend. He will be greatly missed.”

Joe is survived his wife Annie, his children Sara and Dakota, as well as his grandsons. Services are still pending.

Joe Simmons Career

In 1987, Officer Simmons joined the Redding Police Department to begin his career as a law enforcer. He was there until 2010, when he decided that he wanted to retire earlier than he anticipated.

He was a Field Training Officer and an Investigator throughout his career. However, he discovered that the Motor Officer position is the one he loved the most and decided to concentrate his efforts there.

Chief Bill Schueller stated that Joe is the first field trainer officer I had the opportunity to work with since 1994 when I started my employment at the firm.

It happened shortly after I began working there. He was the one who taught my how to drive a car after a long period of time.

Joe was a respected officer during his entire tenure with the police force. He was also responsible for supervising the training of many officers and motor cops. He also trained a variety of investigators who worked under his supervision.

Joe’s only survivors are Annie, his daughter Sara and Dakota and his grandsons. They will all survive Joe’s passing.
