‘Dr. Phil’ Talk Show To End After 21 Seasons
Dr. Phil McGraw created the show in fall 2002. He said that he was ‘blessed’ to have helped’millions of viewers’ and thousands of guests over the years.
Dr. Phil will be ending his 21-year run as a talk show host on CBS Media Ventures. Variety reports that Dr. Phil has decided to stop filming new episodes for the spring.

The distributor plans to continue airing the show’s repeats through the 2023-24 season. The show’s end, which airs Monday through Friday, is Dr. Phil’s first podcast. He also worked as a producer for scripted primetime programming.

In the late 1990s Dr. Phil began appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show as a guest to discuss different topics. This led to him starting the Dr. Phil talkshow in 2002.
Variety reported that the show was receiving an average of 2 million viewers
It was originally produced by Oprah‘s Harpo Productions, and distributed by CBS-owned King World Productions. Variety reported that the show was receiving an average of 2 million viewers each episode at the time Phil decided to end it. This makes it the second most-watched daytime talk show after Live with Kelly and Ryan.
“Phil is a valued partner, member of the CBS/King World familia, and although his show may be ending after 21 year, I’m happy that our relationship isn’t,” Steve LoCascio president of CBS Media Ventures.
