Vanessa Marcil is the daughter of herbalist Patricia Marcil and self-made businessman Pete Ortiz, and was born in Indio, California. Marcil’s father is of Mexican heritage, and her mother is French and Italian. Vanessa attended Indio High School, which is located in Indio, California. Shortly after graduating from high school, she enrolled at College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California.
