The IIconics’s Biography

It was an Australian Professional Wrestling Tag Team, consisting of Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. Royce and Kay, real-life friends. They first all-Australian Tag Team Champions in WWE history. They are the first Australians to win a title at WrestleMania, WWE’s flagship event.

Before WWE, Kay and Royce wrestle in the Pro Wrestling Women’s Alliance (PWWA) in Australia under Jessie McKay and KC Cassidy. They debuted as a Team on May 8, 2015. Shortly after being both signs on WWE’s division NXT.

They were used as Jobbers on house shows, not picking up a single victory as a team for half a year; during the time, they rename them, Jessie and Cassie. Earlier taking on their recent names of Billie Kay and Peyton Royce.

The two debuted on NXT television on October 5, 2016. Later, they dubbs themselves The Iconic Duo and unsuccessfully chase after the NXT Women’s Championship. They have made their move to the main Roster by joining SmackDown on April 10, 2018.

Now, as The IIconics, and captures the Women’s Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 35 in the following year.

The IIconics’s History

Origins

Earlier forming as a Team, Kay, under her real name Jessie McKay; Royce, as the name of KC Cassidy, wrestled each other at the Pro Wrestling Women’s Alliance (PWWA). Throughout their profession, such a title match for the PWWA’s Championship.

Both women join WWE, and there they were assigns to NXT in 2015. Originally under their ring names from PWWA. Cassidy’s debut on the May 15th episode of NXT. They lost to NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks in a non-title match.

NXT’s year (2015 to 2018)

McKay and Cassidy teamed up shortly after joining the NXT. However, they would only see in-house shows for over a year. The first match as a Team was on May 8, 2015, at a house show in Largo, Florida.

There they lost to Bayley and Carmella in McKay’s first match in the WWE. The two were used as Jobbers for over a year and lost all of their matches as a team. However, they won a few separately; during the period.

They renamed them Cassie (Royce) and Jessie (Kay) before taking on the names of Peyton Royce and Billie Kay in August 2015.

TV Debut

The team made their TV debut on October 5, 2016, at NXT and was later dubbed “The Iconic Duo.” Almost a year and a half after creating the team. Both picked up their first win on October 14, 2016, at the house show in Fort Pierce, Florida, defeating Aliyah and Liv Morgan.

Also won the first match on television on December 28, 2016. NXT, defeating the players’ Aliyah and Morgan again. 

On January 28, 2017, at the NXT’s Takeover: San Antonio, two voted 2016’s “Breakout of the Year” at the NXT Year-End Awards. They also compete at the event in their live Television debut. Both were losing in a four-way disaster match for the NXT Women’s Championship won by Asuka’s defending champion.

At the NXT Takeover: Wargame’s, Royce unsuccessfully competes in a four-way disaster match for the vacant NXT Women’s Championship against the Kairi Sane, Nikki Cross, and Ember Moon winner.

Both final televises game on the NXT Television was on October 4, 2017, with the episodes on NXT in the loss against Cross and Ruby Riott. Moreover, they competed in the house shows; their final match as a part of the NXT brand was April 21, 2018, at a house show in Fort Pierce, Florida.

There they lost against Dakota Kai and Steffanie Newell. After the match, both the teams hug each other.

Tag Team Champions

SmackDown brand and WWE Women’s Tag Team’s Champions of the year 2018 to 2019

Kay and Royce are now known as “The IIconics.” Debuted on April 10, 2018, SmackDown Live attacks the SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. They allowed Carmella to cash in her Money in the Bank contract and defeat Flair to win the championship in the week on SmackDown.

The IIconics were won their first match on the main Roster by defeating Asuka and Becky Lynch. On the year October 6 at Super Show-Down in their native country, they beat Asuka and Naomi.

In 2019, The IIconics entering their first Royal Rumble match at the group event. It is eliminating Nikki Cross before Lacey Evans. The following month at the Elimination Chamber participates in the first Female Tag Team Elimination Chamber match to find the inaugural holders of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

It eliminates Naomi and Carmella before being eliminated by Nia Jax and Tamina. The game was finally won by The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection Bayley and Sasha Banks. 

In March, The IIconics starts a dispute with The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection, whom they defeat in a non–title match on the year 19 March episode of SmackDown. Because of the win, they and two other teams challenge Banks and Bayley for the championship at WrestleMania 35 in a disastrous four-way tag team match.

On April 7, The IIconics won the Women’s Tag Team Championship after Kay pins the Bayley. 

Victory

Their victory made them the first all-Australian Tag Team Champion in WWE history. The only previous event of an Australian tag team champion was Buddy Murphy. He became NXT Tag Team Champion alongside American Wesley Blake in 2015. First Australians to wins a title at WrestleMania.

After two days, on SmackDown, the IIconics defeated two extent talents in their first title defense. On the 17 June episode of Raw, the IIconics successfully defends their titles against Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross.

On the year 16 July episode of SmackDown. The IIconics continue to have their titles against The Kabuki Warriors Asuka and Kairi Sane that is count-out.

On the August 5 episode of Raw, both lost the titles to Bliss and Cross in a fatal four-way elimination match. They were the first team eliminated, being knocked out by Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. Their reign ended at 120 days.

Raw Brand (2019–2020)

On October 16, they announced that The IIconics had drafted to Raw as supplemental picks of the 2019 WWE Draft.

The team returned on Raw on May 11, 2020, stopping WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. They later defeat the champions in a non-title match.

On August 31, 2020, during the episode of Raw, the IIconics lost a match to The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott & Liv Morgan). On that, the losing team forcing to break up.

The IIconics, together with other WWE players, would later be released from their contracts on April 15, 2021.

The Other Media

Kay and Royce made the video game debut in WWE 2K18. They have since watched in WWE 2K19 as well as WWE 2K20.
