Shivon Zilis (born Shivon Alice Zilis in Markham, Ontario in 1986 and now 37 years old; Aquarius sign) was born on Saturday, February 8th 1986 in Markham.
She attended Unionville High School before playing ice hockey for a scholarship to Yale University in New Haven where she gained admission through one of their hockey scholarships.
Furthermore, with high grades she also qualified for an academic scholarship at Yale which enabled her to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Economics and Philosophy (2008) at Yale.
She served as goaltender on Yale’s women’s varsity ice hockey teams while boasting one of the all-time best save percentages among its alumni.
Shivon Zilis not only played hockey while studying at Yale University, but she also sang and played the drums and guitar.
With an affinity for literature, she read Ray Kurzweil’s The Age of Spiritual Machines after being inspired by Canadian band Our Lady Peace; this further deepened her interest in Artificial Intelligence.
Shivon Zilis is the daughter of Richard Zilis and Sharda Zilis. One of her parents is a retired federal government bureaucrat; Shivon is their only child.

Shivon soon joined IBM’s micro-finance initiative. As part of this endeavor, she traveled the globe; helping develop systems to provide financial services to small businesses and organizations in developing countries like Peru or Indonesia; creating mobile finance strategies, Smarter Planet portfolio solution strategies, China banking solutions strategies; as well as working on disruptions in consumer payments.
Shivon was drawn to the entrepreneurial side of her job two years after joining Internal Strategies. She started building businesses and forming partnerships with startups, eventually joining Bloomberg Beta – an early-stage venture capital fund funded by Bloomberg L.P. that utilizes’machine intelligence’; founded in March 2011!
In June 2012, Zilis became a Board member of Global Community Charter School and in March 2014 she became a Charter Member of C100 – an non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Canadian technology entrepreneurship and investment.
Additionally, she served on the boards of Directors for Vector Institute in Toronto and Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) in Alberta before joining Creative Destruction Lab as a Fellow in 2015.
Shivon Zilis joined OpenAI, founded by Elon Musk, as an advisor in 2016. By 2020 she had worked her way up to become a Board Member of the organization and then transferred to Neuralink where Musk founded it in 2017.
As Director of Operations and Special Projects since 2022, she serves as Director for Neuralink after previously working as project director on Tesla Inc.’s Autopilot product and chip design team from 2017-2019.

Shivon Zilis first met Elon Musk in 2016 after joining his artificial intelligence startup OpenAI as a director. As of 2022, she is the youngest member of the Board of Directors for that firm.
In July 2022, some Travis County, Texas court documents revealed that Shivon Zilis had twins with Elon Musk born in November 2021; one month before Elon welcomed his second child with former partner Grimes (Canadian musician and singer); Musk also has triplets and twins from his first wife Justine Wilson (author). These documents indicated they lived together in Austin at the time.
Zilis and Musk had apparently filed a court petition to have the names of their twins changed; they requested that the court add Musk’s last name to their children’s names, as well as adding Zilli’s last name as their middle initial.
After learning of Musk’s secret twins, Elon made an online post expressing his support for large families in support of larger households. He stated:
“I am doing my part to address the underpopulation crisis. A rapidly declining birth rate is undoubtedly one of the greatest dangers humanity faces today. Here’s to wishing everyone a blessed family life and congratulating those who already do.”
