Ronald Buckley: Suspect Arrested For Double Murder in Laurel, Mississippi

Fremont police arrested Tuesday a man suspected in the fatal shootings of two Mississippians last month. Fremont Police Chief Derek Wensinger stated that Ronald Buckley (19) was taken into custody at the Double A Motel, East State Street. He was there after multiple sources had credible information. Laurel (Miss. Police said that the arrest took place at 10:10 a.m.

Fremont police had previously eluded the fugitive, when they executed a search warrant at Ross Park Apartment Complex on North Street Nov. 14. The police raid resulted in temporary lockdowns of nearby Ross High School, Fremont Middle School and Vanguard-Technical Career and Technology Centers.

Two counts of murder filed against Buckley in Laurel, Mississippi. He charged in connection to the deaths of two persons in a car outside a laundry on Oct. 24, 2012. In that shooting, a third victim was also injured. We will continue to discuss this case in the next paragraphs.

According to the LPD (19-year-old Ronald Buckley) arrested in Fremont, Ohio after receiving a report by the Jones County Crime Stoppers. According to Tommy Cox, Chief of Laurel Police, Buckley was captured at a nearby motel by members of the Sandusky County SWAT teams and the City of Fremont.

Buckley is wanted by Laurel on two counts of murder in connection with an October shooting that killed two people at a laundromat, in addition to numerous other serious charges.

According to reports, two people were killed and one was injured in Monday’s shooting incident in Laurel. According to police, Buckley shot Mary Ann Collins (19 years old) and Travion Barnett (22.2 years old) outside Lopers Laundry, West 10th Street. They were found inside a parked car outside the building.

A third person also treated with a leg shot. The injured were taken to South Central Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Laurel police stated that they would cooperate with Fremont police to return Buckley from Mississippi in the coming days.

Tips for Laurel Double Homicide

The Laurel Police Department has been investigating Ronald Buckley’s case for weeks. He charged with the murder of two people in broad daylight at a Laurel laundromat. Tommy Cox, the Fremont Ohio Police Chief, was reluctant to reveal details about the search.

We appreciate what they did, as I already mentioned. Cox added, “I wouldn’t have put it out or even commented about it.” We just want to do our part behind the scenes once Mr. Buckley is released from prison. Cox said that officers have been working with federal agencies. Ronald Buckley was charged by the Laurel Police Department with murdering two people outside a laundromat in broad daylight. This has been going on for weeks.

Several locations in Texas have been investigated, according to Cox. Cox hopes law enforcement and community cooperation will lead to an arrest and provide answers to the families that have been left behind. Crime Stoppers offered a $1K reward.

We want Mr. Buckley to be in custody, secure, and into the law system, so let him answer for all his alleged offenses, said Cox. Extradite Buckely to Laurel.

Cox stated that LPD and FPD will work together over the next few days to extradite Buckley. The investigation is ongoing. Brad Anderson, the lead investigator in the case, and other members of the police force will continue to work closely with the District Attorney’s Office to assess any additional charges against Buckley or others.

Tommy Cox, Chief of Laurel Police, stated that he and WDAM felt that the shooting was not random. He also said that police had information that Buckley wasn’t in the Laurel region, Mississippi. Fremont Police aren’t sure what brought Buckley to Northwest Ohio.

FPD reports that Ross High School, Vanguard and Fremont Middle School temporarily locked down on November 14, and then removed later due to the close proximity of law enforcement operations.
