With all the positive potential of social media, Marroni also had to face its negative aspects. She claimed she had been cyberbullied since becoming popular but chose to ignore its toxic nature.
“To be honest, I don’t know anyone else who has dealt with online bullying to the extent I have, especially since I only have a large following for two years,” Mati shared in an interview with Disrupt Magazine.
However, as the pandemic hit in 2020, she could no longer ignore it. Therefore, she learned how to be patient and remain calm while also maintaining a positive outlook at the same time.
Marroni told the American Reporter she had been catfished, which ultimately lead her to seek legal assistance. Many accounts took her name and pictures while pretending to be her, leading them to amass nearly 2 million followers on Instagram. Marroni remembered how knowing someone was using her identity while stalking her fans took a toll on her mental health – leading her to seek legal guidance.
However, even with their help she was unable to come to a satisfactory resolution on the matter.
