Lori Bakker Biography
Lori Bakker is a motivational speaker, author, and televangelist from the United States. She is the wife of Jim Bakker, a televangelist and former ‘Assemblies of God’ minister. Lori has devoted a significant portion of her life to promoting positivism. Her life was blighted by drugs, sex, and an abusive marriage after she had a difficult childhood.
Lori has already had five abortions. Her most recent abortion was a complex case that rendered her childless for the rest of her life. Lori’s life was turned around once she surrendered to the ‘Phoenix First Assembly of God.’
She has been working toward the spiritual upliftment of disturbed individuals, particularly women, since then. Lori is the founder and president of ‘Lori’s House,’ an organization that offers spiritual and other types of support to pregnant women and those who have been through the ordeal of abortion. ‘The Jim Bakker Show,’ which Lori and her husband host, is also a hit.
Lori Bakker Early Life
Lori Beth Graham was born on August 30, 1957. In Phoenix, Arizona, she grew up in a middle-class family. Her family was devoutly religious and attended church on a regular basis. Lori was a member of the ‘Nazarene’ church as well.
When she was in her teens, her life took an unexpected turn. She walked away from God and faith and into a world that would lead to her complete destruction.
Lori had started using drugs by the time she was a teenager. Her entire existence revolved on drugs, sex, and partying.
Lori began a connection with a man she subsequently married when she was 17 years old.
It was, unfortunately, an abusive relationship. Lori was beaten and abused on a regular basis. Her would-be spouse violently abused her the day before her wedding. Her bruises were readily visible in her wedding photos.
Lori had to have her pregnancy terminated five times, and by the age of 22, she had a total hysterectomy. Lori resorted to drugs once more to escape the pain. As a result, she was caught in a vicious circle.
Lori ended her ten-year marriage, which had caused her so much pain, in 1985. She joined the ‘Phoenix First Assembly of God,’ where she underwent spiritual and personal growth, in order to find peace.
Lori Married Life
On July 16, 1998, Lori met Jim Bakker for the first time at ‘The Dream Center.’ Jim was a member of the center’s inner-city outreach program at the time. Lori, on the other hand, first saw Jim in February 1995, when he was preaching at her Phoenix church. Jim has already served five years of his five-year sentence for fraud.
Lori found her partner after looking for love and stability in all the wrong places in the past. Lori and Jim started dating soon after their initial meeting. Jim, like Lori, carried a lot of emotional baggage from his past. Tammy Faye Messner, a Christian musician, preacher, entrepreneur, author, talk-show host, and TV personality, was his first wife. Tammy Sue “Sissy” Bakker Chapman divorced.
Jim and Lori married in front of 250 guests on September 4, 1998, barely 50 days after their first meeting. The wedding took held at the house of their friends John and Joyce Caruso in Burbank, California. Four pastors officiated at the event.
Lori wore a bridal gown borrowed from a friend on her wedding day. Everything, including Jim’s tuxedo, was donated after the ceremony.
