Although she may be the star of her Netflix show, Lily Collins’ parents are just as well-known as her, her father, Phil Collins, and her mother, Jill Tavelman.
Jill Tavelman and Phil Collins, a musician, were married in 1984. This was four years after he divorced Andrea Bertorelli, his first wife. They had two children together. Jill and Phil welcomed their first child, Lily Collins, in 1989. Lily was five years old when her parents divorced. In 1997, they finalized their divorce.
According to People, Phil and Jill split after rumours that Phil had cheated on Jill with Lavinia Lang (an ex-romance) while he was on tour with Genesis in 1992. There was also a rumour at the time that Phil asked Jill for divorce via fax. This he denied in an interview with ABC News in 2016. He said, “It hurt my career or public persona.” “And it was based upon an untruth… So, it was just an opportunity to lay it down, and if it didn’t happen, I trust that people will believe it.”
Although Lily has not spoken about the rumoured affair with her father, she wrote it in her 2017 book Lily Collins unfiltered: No Shames, No Regrets and Just Me. She also criticizes her father for not being there when she was a kid. She wrote that her father was always absent, and she didn’t want to make him go away any longer. “I was more careful about what I spoke to him, fearing that he would think I was mad or not love him. The truth was that I was angry. He was missing me, and I wanted him there.” Lily also wrote a letter to her father in which she forgave him for not being the father she expected. She noted that she forgives him for his mistakes.

Phil Collins is the father of Lily Collins. Lily’s father was well-known before she was. So perhaps the question should be, “Who is Phil Collins’ daughter, Lily Collins?” Phil, whose full name was Philip David Charles Collins, was born in Chiswick (Middlesex) on January 30, 1951. Phil, like his daughter, is also an actor and musician. He is most well-known as the lead singer and drummer of Genesis, a rock band that debuted in 1968. They have released 15 studio albums, five of which reached number one on the UK album charts.
Phil continued his solo career after Genesis. In 1981, his first album, Face Value reached number one in the UK albums charts. Lily, in a 2020 interview with the Radio Times, revealed that her father was famous to her when she was a child and saw another man wearing a T-shirt featuring her father’s name on it. He had my father’s face on his Tshirt, and I couldn’t understand it. He then saw my father and asked for a picture — it was really strange,” she stated. I was wondering, “Why is he asking for a photo of my father and why is my father wearing his T-shirt?” Slowly, but surely, I began to understand.
Lily also stated to the Radio Times that she would not be starring in a biopic on her father because she doesn’t want her professional and personal lives to intersect. She said that she would prefer to keep this part of my life apart, but it would be fascinating to see who they choose to play him. She said that her father is proud of her and gets “super excited” when she casts in a new role.
