Durant began his high school career playing basketball for National Christian Academy before moving onto Oak Hill Academy after two years. For his senior year, Durant transferred to Montrose Christian School.
Between his junior and senior seasons, Durant grew five inches. Following his senior season, he earned recognition as both the Washington Post All-Met Basketball Player of the Year and MVP of the 2006 McDonald’s All-American Game.
College Career (Texas)
Durant committed to the University of Texas during his junior year of high school. During his freshman season, Durant averaged 25.8 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game as Texas finished 25-10 and earned themselves a #4 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Durant was declared the unanimous player of the year, earning himself both the John R. Wooden Award and Naismith College Player of the Year Award, in addition to eight other prestigious honors.
As a freshman, Durant made history by becoming the first freshman ever to win any national player of year awards. After just one season in the league, Durant declared for the NBA Draft.
NBA Career
Durant was selected second overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics, while Greg Oden was taken first overall by Portland Trail Blazers – considered one of the biggest draft errors of the 2000s.
Durant joined LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony as the only teenagers ever to average at least 20 points per game during their rookie season; ultimately winning them both the NBA Rookie of the Year Award.
After his first NBA season with the Seattle SuperSonics, Durant relocated to Oklahoma City and played eight seasons there. During 2013-2014 season, he won league MVP while averaging 32 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game; scoring 30 or more points in 12 straight games to surpass Michael Jordan’s record for consecutive 25 point or more games (41).
In 2016, Durant announced his intentions to join the Golden State Warriors. On July 7th, Durant signed a two-year, $54.3 million contract with the team which led them to back-to-back NBA Championships with Durant earning both MVP awards in both Finals.
Durant was injured during the playoffs of the 2018-2019 season and attempted to return in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against Toronto Raptors, but ended up reinjuring himself with an Achilles tendon injury. On June 30th, 2019 Durant announced his plans to sign with the Brooklyn Nets. On July 7th, 2019 Durant completed a sign-and-trade deal with the team.

Durant was born on September 29th 1988 in Washington D.C. to Wanda and Wayne Pratt; as an infant his father abandoned Kevin and his family, eventually leading to divorce.
Durant’s grandmother Barbara Davis played a significant role in raising him; at 13 years old his father returned and began traveling the country with him for basketball tournaments.
Kevin Durant has three siblings – one sister (Brianna) and two brothers (Tony and Rayvonne). He grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland and during his AAU basketball days wore #35 to honor former coach Charles Craig who tragically passed away at 35.
Durant has had a number of public girlfriends and even some former partners. Nonetheless, he does not have any children to his name.
