Jordan Peele Early Life
Jordan Peele was born on February 21st, 1979 in New York City to Lucinda Williams and Hayward Peele. Raised by his single mother on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, both his parents are white – Jordan being white while Hayward being black – they share a heritage that spans generations.
Peele received his education at the Computer School in Manhattan, graduated from The Calhoun School on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, and continued on to Sarah Lawrence College.

Peele began his professional performing at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam. He and Nicole Parker became renowned for their musical duets there, with Peele portraying “Danish Supermodel Ute”, an iconic character created during that time. Furthermore, Peele hosted MTV’s Comedy Weekend in 2002.
Peele was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2008 for his song “Sad Fitty Cent,” a parody about 50 Cent lamenting over his rivalry with Kanye West.
In 2017 Peele’s debut solo film, Get Out, premiered to critical acclaim and earned a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The critical response was particularly kind towards Peele’s screenplay and direction as well as Daniel Kaluuya’s performance in the lead role; The Atlantic even called it “a masterpiece”.
Get Out quickly gained popularity among moviegoers, becoming one of the most successful horror films and films of 2017 with a gross revenue of over $255 million on an initial budget of just $4.5 million.
Peele’s work on the film earned him widespread acclaim and earned him several accolades, including winning him the Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director Award at 2017 Gotham Independent Film Awards. Most people know Peele from his comedy sketch show ‘Key & Peele’, co-starring Keegan-Michael Key.
